Winter Celebration

In case you missed it, this letter was sent home on red paper yesterday. We are looking forward to our Winter Celebration next Friday, the 14th.

Also, we sure do have some wonderful families in our classroom! The only things we still need for our party are seasonal plates! If you would like to bring anything extra, please feel free to. We are also still in need of more candy canes. Thanks to the families that already brought some!

2nd Grade Tech Boot Camp

We recently completed a 2nd Grade Tech "Boot Camp" with Mr. Jiskra and some other tech pros from the district. The kiddos got to experiment with Green Screen. They created some pretty cool images! They are all uploaded on our SeeSaw site, so be sure to check them out.

Donations for the Giving Tree

On Tuesday, we gathered all of the items 2nd grade brought in as donations for the Giving Tree and sent them in. What a generous group of kiddos! Thank you to all that donated!

Maps and Globes

Our Social Studies unit on Maps and Globes is almost complete! For this activity, the kiddos were asked to create maps with a glue stick, a piece of green paper and a piece of blue paper. They couldn't use scissors! They did fantastic!

Non-Fiction

We have officially started our non-fiction unit in reading! The 2nd graders are busy learning all about various text features (table of contents, labels, keywords, diagrams, etc.) and ways to help them gain new information from nonfiction texts!

Words Their Way

Be sure to have your 2nd grader show you his or her Words Their Way sort each night! It should be in a baggie taped to your child's planner. We get new sorts about once each week. Practicing these will help your child with spelling and reading!

Veteran's Day

We enjoyed learning about our families for Veteran's Day!

Thankful Turkeys

Thankful turkeys! We later added them to the green screen. Be sure to check out our SeeSaw site to see them! :)

Paws Pals

We met our Paws Pals last week for the first time! We are happy to be pairing up with Mrs. Preston's Kindergarten class this year! This time, we made pumpkin glyphs with our Paws Pals. We're looking forward to having a Thanksgiving feast with them on Tuesday the 20th. (If you would like to help us out, we need volunteers to donate juice boxes, plastic utensils, napkins and plates. Please e-mail me of you would like to donate one of these items. We need enough for two classes. Thanks! :))

Happy Birthday!

Happy 8th Birthday to Miss Brooklynne!
