Here are a few quick updates and reminders:
*Our Spring Break starts this Friday after school. There will be no school all next week.
*Tomorrow, March 20th, is our school wide Read 20 day. Remember to wear your Read 20 shirts if you have them! :)
*This Thursday, March 21st, is our School Store run by the Student Council. If you are interested in sending your child to school with money for this, please have it clearly labeled with your child's first and last name.
*Don't forget to check out the pages on the left side of the blog! We recently added a "Books We've Read" page. This page showcases the books that I have read aloud (and am currently reading) to the second graders during snack time. Knowing what books your child is listening to during snack at school opens up an opportunity for you to have discussions about the book with your child at home.
*As a reminder, our schedule is a little bit different over the next few weeks due to Forward Testing that is happening in 4th grade. Between now and April 18th, we have 10:00 specials (gym, art, music, library, etc.), 11:05 recess and 11:25 lunch. Please contact the office if you have any specific questions regarding this.
*In Social Studies, the 2nd graders have been busy learning about important people in history. They have learned about Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, George Washington and Susan B. Anthony. As mentioned in an earlier post, each student has also chosen one person from history to study on their own. They are working on creating timelines for their people and are researching why their person is important or famous. After Spring Break, they will have an opportunity to dress up like the person they studied for our "Wax Museum." This will take place during the week of April 8th. I will send an additional letter about this project home soon. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
