Field Day

This coming Friday, May 31st is our school's "Field Day."  This is a fun day for all Suamico students spent mostly outside. We will rotate as a class between various outdoor games and activities. Here are a few points to mention:

-We will also be eating lunch outside on the Suamico hill. Parents and family members are all invited to join us for lunch. I recommend that if you pack a lunch from home on this day, you bring it in a paper bag similar to how we plan for field trips.

-Please also send your child to school with sunscreen and a water bottle.  Be sure to check the weather as the day gets closer. :)

-Be sure to have your child wear appropriate shoes for being outside and playing group games all day.

-As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions and/or concerns!

Lost Teeth

Miss Violet lost her tooth yesterday! It was bothering her all afternoon so we were all happy to see it pop out! She wanted me to wait to post this picture so she could share the news with her mom first. So sweet!

A big shout out goes to Dominic Jackson, Jillian and Violet (and all of the Suamico Panthers from other classrooms involved in Luv2run)! A big shout out to all of the wonderful families that were also involved in the Luv2Run program this spring and came out to support us on race day!

Check out this great picture that Violet's mom sent in of Violet and Jillian! Way to go, ladies!!

Message from Mr. Welnetz

Good morning;

A few quick items for Thursday May 16 and Friday May 17:
THURSDAY MAY 16 - School store (final school store of the year), sponsored by Student Council, is today.  If your child would like to purchase something, please send no more than $5.  Thanks!
FRIDAY MAY 17 -
  • WEAR GREEN / BUCKS CLOTHING - Let's wear Milwaukee Bucks clothing (or colors) to support our home-state team as they work to take out the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of the NBA playoffs!
  • PTO RAISE CRAZE - our spring fundraiser sign-up ends on Friday May 17.  For more information, and to participate, please go to our school newsletter website (http://suamiconews.weebly.com).  Consider making a donation in exchange for acts of kindness to be completed by our students. The acts of kindness, when completed, get recorded on the Raise Craze website so friends/family that donate can see that the commitment was finalized!  Thanks for supporting our PTO as they provide thousands of dollars of support to our school each year!
  • EARLY RELEASE - please remember that Friday May 17 is a 1:25 pm early release.  Also, we will operate on a Tuesday schedule on Friday, so please plan accordingly based on the specials classes that your child is assigned to for Tuesdays.  Thank you!
Thanks for your support!
Ryan Welnetz, Principal

Updates

Here a few updates and reminders:

*Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14th, is a "Friday schedule." For our class, this means we will not have gym. Instead, we will have art.

*Tomorrow we will also welcome a guest speaker for Guidance. Please see the note from Mrs. Foley regarding this guest speaker that was sent home last week.

*This Friday, May 17th, is an early release. Students will be released at 1:25.

*Our last Scholastic order was due this Wednesday, May 15th. Due to the request of a family, I am extending the due date to Friday, May 17th. This is a great time to get books ready for summer! After teaching 1-3rd grade for almost 10 years and being a mom myself, I truly believe Scholastic online book orders are the most budget-friendly option. :) Our code for ordering is: HPHV

*I have officially begun doing running records with the 2nd graders! It is so exciting to see all of the growth! Please remember to continue to read with your child each night.

*Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 31st. More information about this will be coming home before the date. :)

*SUMMER BIRTHDAYS: If your child has a "summer birthday" and did NOT choose to celebrate his or her "half birthday," please let me know. I will work with you to choose a day in May or June to celebrate your child with our class. In the past, I dedicated a week or two the "summer birthday" kiddos. Each child will get his or her own special day. Your child will get to be the line-leader, wear a special birthday crown, get a pencil from me and have a birthday seat cover. If you would like, you can also choose to send your child to school with a birthday treat. We will sing to your child to help celebrate. :)

*Don't forget to also check our Twitter and SeeSaw sites nightly! :)

Field Trip to the Wildlife Sanctuary

We had a wonderful field trip to the Wildlife Sanctuary today! Thank to all of the parents (and grandparents) who came to help chaperone! We appreciated your support. We enjoyed learning about different animals and how the Wildlife Sanctuary rehabilitate hurt animals. We also got to observe and even pet a few animals. Be sure to ask your second grader to share more details with you about our field trip tonight.

I took a lot of pictures of our experiences... enjoy them all! (Click on images to enlarge.)
