Upcoming Field Trips

Today your child will bring home a pink half sheet of paper.  The note explains two field trips we have coming up.  Please read the note for details of how to sign up your child and how to pay the fees for the field trips.

One field trip is to the Barlow Planetarium/Weiss Rock Museum and High Cliff State Park.  The other field trip is to Maribel Caves Park.

Both are all day field trips and parents are welcome to join us.  Please remember that chaperones should have filled out a background check form with the office.
Also because of limited room on the bus we will probably only have room for 1, possibly 2 parents to ride the bus.  Any other parents would need to provide their own transportation. In addition, the Barlow Planetarium does have limited seating.  I don't for see us going over capacity, but if that would be the case we would have to limit the number of chaperones by picking names from a hat.  When you sign up your child for the field trip there is also a spot for you to sign up to come along on the field trip and to pay the fee for yourself.

If you have any further questions please let me know.  Any specific questions regarding the field trip form and payment can be handled by the office.

Thanks!

Happy Birthday!

Today, we celebrated this cool third grader's 9th birthday! We had so much fun singing to you and enjoying your yummy cookies. Thank you for sharing! We hope you had a fantastic day!

"Hot Pepper" Contest for Jump Rope for Heart

Yesterday we got to watch our school's annual "Hot Pepper" contest through Jump Rope for Heart. Each year, Mr. Murphy takes the top 6 jumpers from each grade level to jump as much as they can for 60 seconds. We were lucky to have two of our own students join the competition. Due to an injury, one student needed to sit out. We are still just as proud of her for making it in! Way to go, you two!

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday we celebrated this sweet girl's 9th birthday! She sure was a HAPPY birthday girly! We enjoyed your yummy treats and loved celebrating YOU! We hope you had a great day!

Ice Cream Treat from the Principal!

The 3rd graders won the Box Top Drive!! As a reward, Mr. Welnetz gave everyone a special ice cream treat. The kiddos sure had a blast eating them. Thanks, Mr. Welnetz!
We had to get a silly picture, too!

Special Day

On Valentine's Day, the third graders spent their time doing something sweet for others. With the money they raised from selling popcorn to the rest of Suamico during our Consumers and Producers Unit, they were able to make 35 tie blankets that we will donate to a local nursing home next Monday. (A note went home on Tuesday with more information about this. Please let us know if you can join us after school to donate the blankets!) It was so cool to see the 3rd graders work together to create their blankets. A huge thank you goes out to all of the wonderful family members that donated their time to come in and help prep the blankets by cutting them for us!
The third graders also got to celebrate Valentine's day by playing board games with each other and practicing good social skills with turn taking and good sportsmanship. To make it extra special, we wore our jammies. :)

Happy Half-Birthday!

We celebrated this smart boy's half-birthday in class this week! We sure did love signing to you and enjoyed your yummy (panther-colored) "ice cream cakes!"
We hope you had a wonderful day!

Valentine's Party

Last Friday, we celebrated Valentine's Day in our classroom with a fun party. A HUGE shout-out and thank you to all of the parents that helped make the party so perfect for the kids. Thank you to the party planners/organizers, the parents that brought in food and drinks, came up with and brought in creative games and the parents that volunteered their time to help chaperone. I think at one point I counted 11 parents at our party. Awesome!
(*Please keep in mind that families are always welcome in our classroom. If you would like to read a book to our class, come in and read with small groups or volunteer for something, don't hesitate to contact me!)
I took LOTS of pictures. Click on an image to enlarge...
Enjoy!
