Last week, the third graders completed another "Mystery Science" activity. This time, the lesson was geared towards our Rocks and Minerals unit. The 3rd graders got to use a map and a list of places and plot different volcanoes on them. After this, we combined all of our maps from different areas of the world and found that there is a "Ring of Fire" where *most* of the world's volcanoes pop up. We spent some time discussing if we thought a volcano could ever realistically pop in our own back yard. Be sure to quiz your third grader on what they think.
