We have exciting news to share! This year, we will be using "Dojos" for classroom behavior. ClassDojo is a website that I use to reward "points" for all kinds of positive behaviors that take place in our classroom. Possible ways of earning points include participating, staying on task, being a good friend, cooperating with a group, etc. Students can also lose Dojo points for unexpected behaviors. Things that might cause a student to lose a point include being off task, not following directions, being a bad friend, etc.
The third graders have been busy earning lots of Dojo points already this year! With their points, they will have a chance to "shop" with their points. They can "buy" various rewards including lunch with Mrs. Beaudry and a friend, bringing a stuffed animal to school, reading to the class at the end of the day, sitting in a "hot seat" for the day, no shoes for the day (in our classroom only), or even teacher desk take-over! The kiddos are really excited about it. In order to make this happen, we need some help. We are looking for parents that would be willing to volunteer to come in and be our "Points Parents." Points Parents will come into our classroom 2-4 times each month and take each student individually to shop for rewards with their points. It would take approximately an hour each time. Ideally, we would love to have this take place in the afternoons during our literacy block. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know as soon as you can! :)
Thanks!
